
History
Perrysville was laid out on the 10th day of June, 1815, by Thomas Coulter. Population in 1830 was 9, population in 1860 was 1835. The community was named after Oliver Hazard Perry, naval commander during the War of 1812.
Oliver Hazard Perry was born on August 23, 1785, at the Old Perry Homestead in South Kingston, Rhode Island, of "Fighting Quaker parents." His father was in the United States Navy and young Perry soon followed. At the age of 13, Perry entered the Navy as a midshipman, where his first assignment was in the Caribbean under the command of his father aboard the sloop-of-war, General Greene.

As of the census of 2000, there were 816 people, 329 households, and 231 families residing in the village.
There were 329 households out of which 37.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.2% were married couples living together and 29.5% were non-families.
